Haywood Pathways Center’s services help to meet the basic needs of food, shelter, and safety for an often overlooked segment of the population; having these needs met is fundamental for establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Maintaining safe and comfortable living arrangements is a part of fulfilling this promise to those we serve. While at times we may have high priority needs, we always rely on our community to support the basic monthly expenses of operating our shelter.

Many of our guests come to us with only the clothing on their backs. Your donations of toiletries, clothing, and other necessities restore dignity and self-esteem to residents. Visit our Amazon Needs List to view a list of items that are always welcome and accepted to meet the basic needs on campus. Tax Acknowledgement
At Haywood Pathways Center we appreciate your generous and faithful support — and want to be good stewards of your gifts. Please note that we will send an acknowledgment of your donation(s) once per year. This will occur after the close of the calendar year on December 31st and reach you by January 31st. Additional Forms of Giving
QCD from an IRA
Did you know that if you are age 70 ½ or above you can make a donation to Haywood Pathways Center directly from your IRA?
Such gifts are known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) and allow you to potentially realize a tax savings while making a charitable gift to Pathways.
This program allows you to have your IRA manager contribute directly from your IRA to Pathways; meaning the gift does not count as part of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for that year. For more information check with your IRA administrator or contact our Executive Director at 828-246-0332 or director@haywoodpathways.org.
Gifts of Securities
Consider gifting appreciated securities, such as stocks. Your gift of appreciated securities can provide you with significant tax and financial benefits, such as bypassing capital gains taxes and providing a valuable income tax deduction. If you are interested in this option:
– Decide which stock and the number of shares you wish to transfer to Haywood Pathways Center.
– Provide written instructions to your broker to deliver those shares to the account that has been established for Haywood Pathways Center
– Copy your letter of instruction to our Executive Director at director@haywoodpathways.org
