t600-photoThe 2014 Grace Church in the Mountains annual Parish Fair raised more than $14,500. The money was dispersed through a grant process to 19 local nonprofits organizations, all dedicated to serving the common good of the community.

This year’s grant recipients are The Arc of Haywood County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Circle of Hope, Clothes to Kids, Compassionate Friends, Fines Creek Community Association, Good Samaritan Clinic, KARE, Mountain Mediation, Pigeon Community MDC, REACH – Safe Dates, REACH – Elder Care, REACH shelter, the Francis Fund, Haywood Spay/Neuter, the Hoeber Foundation, STAR Ranch and Cam Henry Scholarships.

Next Step Ministry, with the Haywood Pathways Center, also received a grant to use for services for women being released from the county jail and to address the high recidivism rate — 95 percent of women released from prison will be re-incarcerated within three months.
